What's So Great About Christianity
Patty Mondore, a longtime friend of the ministry wrote asking me to write a review for Dinesh D'Souza book, What's So Great About Christianity. However, being a talented writer and singer in her own right, I asked Mrs. Mondore to write the review. I am sure you will enjoy Mrs. Mondore's writing style, and D'Souza's new book, which she calls, "one of the most thorough apologetics books in defense of the faith that I have read in a long time." And make sure to visit Mrs. Mondore's website at Gold-Mountain.com.
Farewell Israel is highly recommended as an unbiased crash course in the history of Islam. The last ten minutes of the video are somewhat more controversial, although the case that Islamists intend to wipe out Israel is fairly well documented through footage showing their own words. The 2 1/2 hour video is broken up into chapters, so it can be used in a short "Bible study" or Sunday School class. The video is not rated, but if it were, it would probably receive a PG or PG-13 rating due to limited graphic violence. More...
Intelligent Design 101
Intelligent Design 101 is a short, good introduction into the arguments for intelligent design theory from leaders in the field. If you have hesitated to buy one of the more specific books on intelligent design because of fear of getting lost in the technical discourse, this is a good way to get introduced to all the areas of discussion without getting bogged down in too many technical details. Once you have finished this book, you will be ready to take on some of the more detailed aspects of the theory, with an understanding of the basic concepts and issues. More...
Several visitors have asked about Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. Bob Stuart, a friend of the ministry has written a review of the movie from a preview screening. It is apparent from the review that the movie is entertaining and informative. However, it has some elements that we find troublesome and inaccurate, since it supports young earth creationism, which is scientifically bankrupt. Still, Expelled is worth seeing, even taking its negative aspects into consideration. Expelled is scheduled to open in theaters this Friday, April 18. More...
Answers for Atheists
Wars & Religious Belief
A slew of books by "evangelical" atheists have claimed that most of the world's suffering (including most wars) are the direct result of religious differences and the discord that it fosters. Such statements are seldom backed up by real evidence (other than citing a handful of wars that seem to be the result of religious differences).1 Is religion really the major cause of war? More...
The "hope" of atheism
Humanism (the philosophical arm of atheism), through its manifestos and declarations, claims to offer hope for humanity. However, cosmology, the study of the universe - its beginning, history, and likely fate - tells us that the universe will eventually destroy all life, knowledge, and consciousness as it suffers permanent heat death. This is the ultimate "hope" of atheism. More...
Prayer vs. medicine
The scenario has happened many times before. Some Christian (or Jehovah's Witness) decides that prayer is the way that his child should be healed, so he forsakes medical treatment and the child dies. It made me upset when I was an atheist and still does now that I am a Christian. Since God calls certain individuals to serve others through medicine, could it be that those people really are the answer to our prayers? More...
Design vs. Evolution
Christianity proposes that human beings are more than just a physical entity, but possess a soul, a doctrine known as dualism. Naturalism says that human beings are purely physical beings and that all manifestations of human beings is a function of an advanced brain—the mind is the brain. A new article by Dr. Michael Egnor examines whether there is any evidence that the mind is more than just neural functioning. More...
Origin of Life
Origin of life researchers have been refuting each other's theories, saying why each is impossible. Proponents of replicators point out that metabolic pathways are way too complex to have arisen spontaneously. Proponents of metabolism-first theories point out that replicators larger than 50-mer cannot spontaneously form. Guess what's left if both replicator and metabolic hypotheses are eliminated? More...
